Libertine French bistro in the West Village, NYC completed!
Libertine has finally landed at its debut home in the West Village! Cody Pruitt (founder & partner), Jacob Cohen (partner) and Max Mackinnon (executive chef & partner), are the owners of New York's newest French bistro which opened its doors at 684 Greenwich Street in West Village on May 25th, 2023! This buzzy French bistro boasts easy, casual vibes and an impressive, sophisticated menu.
Starting as a longshoreman's pub in 1870s, the location has 150-year history, which includes the space being a center of the Black Power artist community movement. The space was designed and carefully curated by Cody Pruitt himself.
Libertine has a lived-in, well-loved feel about it with burgundy banquettes, exposed brick and dark wooden chairs. Keeping the original tin ceiling and hexagonal tile floor patched with concrete gives it the worn-in look. Finally, a wall of French doors opens up to Christopher Street; encouraging neighbors to peek inside.
